The Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, on Thursday urged all concerned parties to gear up preparations to counter the coronavirus.
After a Corps Commanders' Conference presided over by General Bajwa at the General Headquarters, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the situation with regard to COVID-19 and the preventive measures taken by the Pakistan Army came under discussion.
The ISPR said that the army chief directed all concerned to "gear up preparations in support of national effort to counter this pandemic in case of any eventuality". The ISPR said that the forum also discussed the situation at the Line of Control (LoC) and the Afghan peace process.
"Forum reviewed operational preparedness, situation along LOC, geo-strategic environment and national and regional security situation with particular emphasis on Afghanistan Peace Process," tweeted DG ISPR.
The army chief said that path to regional stability and peace passed through Afghanistan, adding collaborative approach and patience could help overcome all challenges for which Pakistan was ready to play its part with utmost sincerity.
