Canadian PM Trudeau's wife tests positive for coronavirus, couple self-isolates
- Sophie recently returned from a speaking event in the UK.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
In a tweet on Friday, the Canadian PM said that his wife will remain in quarantine for the time being. The PM continued that Sophie's symptoms remain mild and she is taking care of herself and following the advice of their doctor.
He said Sophie recently returned from a speaking event in the UK, and on Thursday night she was experiencing mild flu-like symptoms.
"Out of an abundance of caution, I too will be self-isolating & self-monitoring until we get Sophie‘s results back. But I‘ll be busy working from home. Today, I‘ll be speaking with some world leaders and joining ministers for a Cabinet committee discussion on COVID-19," the PM said.
I have some additional news to share this evening. Unfortunately, the results of Sophie’s COVID-19 test are positive. Therefore, she will be in quarantine for the time being. Her symptoms remain mild and she is taking care of herself and following the advice of our doctor.
