The Karachi Port handled 115,826 tonnes of cargo comprising 72,136 tonnes of import cargo and 43,690 tonnes of export cargo including 6,659 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 72,136 tonnes comprised of 67,671 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,465 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 43,690 tonnes comprised of 21,316 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,000 tonnes of clinker and 10,374 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,659 containers comprising of 4,523 containers of import and 2,136 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,539 of 20's and 1,379 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 113 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 583 of 20's and 299 of 40's loaded containers while 351 of 20's and 302 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely APL Thailand, Miura, Navig-8 Amethyst, Cembay, Yangtze Alpha and Dolphin Star carrying containers, tanker, chemical, cement and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. APL Thailand, Thorsky, MOL Gateway, Cosco Kaohsiung, Daytona and Greco Libero carrying containers, tanker and clinker respectively currently at the berths. There are three ships namely Thorsky, MOL Gateway and MTM Hamburg carrying containers and tanker respectively expected to sail on Friday while two more ships namely Altonia and OOCL Chicago carrying containers are expected to sail on Saturday.

There are two vessels viz. Northern Discovery and Al Mahboobah carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Friday while five more vessels viz. Hyundai Dynasty, Ever Decent, As Sicilia, Liana and Marmuna carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 140,409 tonnes comprising of 103,302 tonnes of import cargo and 37,107 tonnes of export cargo including 2,584 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 103,302 tonnes includes 57,772 tonnes of coal; 8,445 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,200 tonnes of palm oil; 8,830 tonnes of chemical; 1,625 tonnes of project cargo; 6,441 tonnes of LNG and 1,989 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 37,107 tonnes includes 37,107 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,584 containers comprising of 631 containers import and 1,953 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were two ships namely Unity Force and Al-Gharrafa carrying coal and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely Aristomenis, Aquitania, Tiger Winter and Al-Mahboobah carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

There is one ship namely Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to sail in night hours of Friday. A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, chemical, LNG, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. APL Thailand, Maersk Jalan, SL Hodeldah, Amis Wisdom-1, Chemroad Haya, Georgia-M, The Odosia, Al-Salam-II, Antartica, Stena Imprimis, NH Singapore, Maple, Tiger Harmony, Tiger Tenacaty and Horizon carrying containers, tug boat, coal, chemical, mogas, condensate, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were five ships viz. APL Thailand, Thorsky, Chemroad Haya, Gas Pacu and Maple carrying containers, chemical, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were two ships namely Thorsky and Gas Pacu carrying containers and LPG respectively due to arrive on Friday while two more ships namely Maersk Jalan and Manet carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
