Provincial Minister for Information, Local Government, Religious Affairs, Forest and Wildlife, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, has said that Sindh government has also started work for restoration of Karachi Circular Railway on the directives of the Supreme Court, which will resolve the transportation issues in Karachi and also reduce traffic burden on the roads.
Speaking at a meeting of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), he said that the Sindh government was striving to provide all facilities to the people of Karachi, similar to those available in other cities.
He informed the audience about the establishment of special courts for adjudication of illegal construction cases and measures taken by provincial government against 28 officers of the Sindh Building Control Authority who were involved in illegal construction.
He said that the chief minister of Sindh had been strictly monitoring the coronavirus situation and had established health desks in all government hospitals for screening the people.
President of FPCCI, Mian Anjum Nisar, informed the minister about the issues and problems faced by the city, like transport congestion, pollution, lack of town planning, education and health facilities and illegal construction of buildings.
Karachi is the largest city of Pakistan, but no significant steps were taken during the past decades for resolving the issues of the city.
He also talked about the coronavirus which has affected Karachi city mostly.
Mian Anjum Nisar also gave certain suggestions to the minister about town planning, tree plantation and revival of the circular train in Karachi.
