  • Mubashir was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 1970 and served as a finance minister in Bhutto’s cabinet from 1971-74.

KARACHI:  Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-founder and verteran politician Dr. Mubashir Hassan Passed away on Saturday in Lahore.

Dr. Mubashir, 98, was under treatment for the last three days at his residence. He was a civil engineer, scientist, journalist and analyst and author of over 10 books.

He was also one of the contributors to PPP’s first-ever manifesto.

Mubashir was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 1970 and served as a finance minister in Bhutto’s cabinet from 1971-74.

He established the Ministry of Science in 1972 and was assigned the responsibility to arrange funding for nuclear project. He helped to established the Kahuta Research Laboratories. Dr. Hasan also founding member of HRCP.

Later Dr. Mubashir left PPP and join Ghinwa Bhutto’s party, he resigned from the Punjab presidency of ghinwa party three year ago.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) in a tweet also “deeply mourned” the veteran politician’s death.
