A special anti-polio campaign in Tehsil Tandlianwala started here on Saturday at the Hilal-e-Ahmar Maternity Hospital. The campaign would continue until March 20. Commissioner Ishrat Ali and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali inaugurated the anti-polio campaign by administering anti-polio vaccine drops to the children.
AC Sadar Umar Maqbool, CEO DHA Dr Mushtaq Sipra, DHO Dr Bilal Ahmad, MS Dr Mukhtar Randhawa and other officers were present on the occasion. The Commissioner said that the special anti-polio campaign required deep attention and utmost responsibility to completely eradicate the polio virus from the country.
He said that every child of under five years of age must be vaccinated. He said that he would himself check the performance of polio teams by visiting different areas of Tandlianwala. He emphasized the importance of awareness campaign for the information of the parents.
Ishrat Ali said that the anti-polio campaign could only be made successful with the cooperation of the parents. The commissioner said that the administrative machinery would remain active during the anti-polio campaign for monitoring the performance of the teams of the health department.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali said that though Faisalabad district had been polio free, yet the polio teams would reach every child of under five years of age for administering the vaccine to eliminate any chance of the polio virus bouncing back in the future.
He said that a comprehensive security plan had also been devised for the protection of the polio teams, and the officers of district administration would also remain in the field to supervise the arrangements. The DHO said that 135,858 children would be administered the anti-polio vaccine during the special campaign.
