Prices of essential kitchen items especially, wheat flour, milk, bread, milk cream and eggs have witnessed an increase during this past week as compared to the week before, a survey carried out by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.

The survey observed significant increase in wheat flour price, which jumped from Rs 1,080 per 25kg bag to Rs 1,190 per bag, packed milk price jumped from Rs 140 per litre pack to Rs 150 per litre pack, plain bread normal size price jumped from Rs 50 to Rs 60 and large bread from Rs 70 to Rs 80, while milk cream small pack price jumped from Rs 100 per pack to Rs 110 per pack, and eggs from Rs 90 per dozen to Rs 94 per dozen.

However, during the week, sugar prices witnessed a slight reduction from Rs 4,000 per 50kg bag to Rs 3,850 per 50kg bag, which in retail has come down from Rs 85 per kg to Rs 82 per kg.

Branded packed spices like Shan, Mehran, National and others' prices increased during the past week from Rs 65 per pack to Rs 75 per pack. In retail market, eggs are being sold at Rs 105 per dozen as against Rs 100 per dozen and chicken price remained stable at Rs 5,500 per 40kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 160 per kg. Meanwhile, chicken meat is available at Rs 260 per kg.

During the week under review no changes were observed in the prices of prices of pulses, tea, salt, rice, powdered chili, turmeric, ghee/cooking oil, and items alike.

The prices of onions, potatoes and tomatoes remained stable as onions in wholesale market is being sold at Rs 325 per 5kg, which in retail are being sold at Rs 80-85 per kg, potatoes in wholesale market is available at Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail are being sold at Rs 50 per kg and tomatoes in wholesales market are available at Rs 140 per 5kg, which in retail market are being sold at Rs 40 per kg.

Garlic price went slightly up from Rs 1,300 per 5kg to Rs 1,350 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 350 per kg and Chinese ginger price remained stable at Rs 1,600 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 440 per kg, while Thai ginger price went up from Rs 1,150 per 5kg to Rs 1,250 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 320 per kg as against Rs 280 per kg.

Capsicum price remained stable at Rs 475 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 110-120 per kg; Yam (arvi) price also remained stable at Rs 670 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 150 per kg; carrot price went up from Rs 180 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail are being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 45 per kg, radish price went up from Rs 80 to Rs 100 per kg, which in retail are being sold at Rs 25-30 per kg.

Brinjal price went further down from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 75-80 per kg, peas price remained stable at Rs 150 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 35-40 per kg, okra price went up from Rs 600 per 5kg to Rs 650 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 150 per kg, various qualities of pumpkin price varied in the range of Rs 200-400 per 5kg in wholesale market, which in retail are being sold at Rs 50-100 per kg against Rs 90-95 per kg.

Overall fruit prices witnessed a mixed trend as best quality white apple price went down from Rs 115 per kg to Rs 100 per kg, while normal is available in the range of Rs 75-90 per kg, Pakistan Kalakilo apple price remained stable at Rs 150 per kg, Iranian Kalakilo apple price went down from Rs 175 per kg to Rs 160 per kg and golden apple price went further down from Rs 120 per kg to Rs 110 per kg.

Good quality banana price went up from Rs 90 per dozen to Rs 120 per dozen, normal quality banana from Rs 60-65 per dozen to Rs 75-80 per dozen, while guava price remained stable at Rs 55-60 per kg.

Various qualities of oranges are available in the range of Rs 60 per dozen to Rs 200 per dozen, pomegranates are available in the range of Rs 200-300 per kg, and grapes at Rs 200 per kg. While new arrival strawberry is being sold at Rs 250-300 per kg.
