To ensure compliance with the Punjab government's directives to prevent spread of coronavirus, the district administration is vigorously taking actions against marriage banquets halls hosting weddings and education institutes for continuing with classes.
Senior officials of the administration with their teams carried out raids in various parts of the provincial capital on Monday. The Assistant Commissioner (AC) Cantonment stopped a marriage function in his jurisdiction area that was held in Habib Farm House and sealed the facility.
In another raid at Gulberg, a posh restaurant X2 was sealed by the AC Model Town for allowing a birthday function in its premises. In this the AC Model Town said that among the guests in the event included a couple who had arrived from Dubai two days ago. "The couple was immediately shifted to the Services Hospital for screening," he added. Among the other wedding banquet facilities that were sealed by the AC City for violating the government's directives were Traiq Marriage Hall on Sanda Road and Lal Deen Catering Marriage Hall at Thokar Niaz Baig.
The administration also took an action against a wedding function that was held in open spaces, which has been temporally prohibited by the government. The wedding function abruptly was stopped and the tents were removed and for the violation a person involved in arrangement was apprehended. In this connection, District Commissioner Lahore Afzal Danish said that his teams are vigorously pursuing against people violating the government directives and no leniency will be shown.
Moreover, the Lahore also pursued against education institutions for remaining open, although the government has ordered all education institution to remain close till April 5. At Barkat Market, a language institute was forcefully closed after stopping the examination being held in its premises. Moreover, staff at the University of Lahore who had come to attend a meeting was asked to vacate the building immediately and asked the management to shut premises immediately.
Meanwhile, due of threat of coronavirus, a multinational smart phone brand, OPPO, cancelled a lunching event of its latest devise that was scheduled to be held in the provincial capital. Now, they have decided to go for a live digital launch in Pakistan. On March 19, the live launch event will take place on OPPO Pakistan Facebook page.
This is for the first time in Pakistan that any mobile company is doing an online live launch with no audience.
