As a precautionary measure to halt the spread of coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the district administration suspended holding of Jirgas and closed the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) offices in Landi Kotal, Jamrud and Bara on Monday.

According to officials on the direction of the assistant commissioners of Landi Kotal, Torkham, Jamrud and Bara, Nadra offices were closed and the staff members were asked to suspend their activities with immediate effect.

Organizing of official Jirgas and public gatherings were also restricted and people were asked to reduce public interactions and strictly follow the preventive measures prescribed by the health officials.

Torkham border had already been closed on Sunday at 12:00pm for all kinds of movement, and as per an official in Torkham, on the last day some 21,000 people crossed the border. On Monday morning Torkham border wore a deserted look and only troops could be witnessed who executed their duties while safeguarding the border.
