Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, has finally broken her silence. But she has cited 'personal reasons' behind her decision not to make political statements. What are those 'personal reasons'? She reportedly told media that she had been silent due to "personal reasons" and that her resolve "cannot be weakened through intimidation and threatening tactics. First of all, if anyone thinks that by putting me in jail without any reasons, I can be scared or subdued, they should know that my resolve to stand by civilian supremacy and constitution has strengthened and it cannot be weakened through such intimidating tactics." She was, therefore, expected to spell out those reasons. Was her silence the result of some deal with the country's powers that be?
