The Karachi Port handled 101,994 tonnes of cargo comprising 74,407 tonnes of import cargo and 27,587 tonnes of export cargo including 5,490 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 74,407 tonnes comprised of 47,507 tonnes of containerised cargo and 26,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 27,587 tonnes comprised of 17,736 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,850 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,490 containers comprising of 3,876 containers of import and 1,614 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 580 of 20's and 1,461 40's loaded while 114 of 20's and 130 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 548 of 20's and 232 of 40's loaded containers while 58 of 20's and 272 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Ever Decent and Manet carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Coral Star, Ever Ursula, Mayssan, Kota Karim, MT Quetta and Grace carrying containers, tanker and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.
There are five ships namely Kota Karim, Mayssan, Ubena, Daytona and Greco Libero carrying containers, mogas and clinker respectively expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are three vessels viz. Oriental Marguerite, MT Shalamat and Amber-L carrying tankers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while seven more vessels viz. CMA CGM Medea, Utrillo, Rome Express, Eastern Chemi, VTC Glory, Marmuna and Roadrunner Bulker carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.
A cargo volume of 169,660 tonnes comprising of 128,147 tonnes of import cargo and 41,513 tonnes of export cargo including 2,805 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 128,147 tonnes includes 34,470 tonnes of coal; 25,128 tonnes of steel coil; 14,502 tonnes of palm oil; 10,012 tonnes of LNG; 608 tonnes of LPG and 42,427 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,513 tonnes includes 3,500 tonnes of rice; 28,000 tonnes of condensate and 10,013 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,805 containers comprising of 2,233 containers import and 572 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely Tomson Gas and Stena Impremis carrying LPG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely MSC Maeva, Global Carnet and Al-Rekayat carrying containers, steel coil and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, rice, LNG, LPG, condensate and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven vessels viz. APL Savannah, Asphalt Spirit, KN Forest, Bittern, Gulf Mews, Al-Takreem, Georgia-M, Al-Salam-II, NSH Singapore, Tiger Harmony and Horizon carrying containers, coal, sand, bitumen, chemical, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six ships viz. APL Savannah, Maersk Pittsburgh, KN Forest, Al-Takreem, Gulf Mews and Tiger Harmony carrying containers, sand, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Pittsburgh carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely X-Press Bardsey carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
