WASHINGTON: US military aircraft intercepted two Cessna 172 general aviation aircraft late Friday in the vicinity of the US presidential retreat of Camp David, Maryland, the North American Aerospace Defense Command announced.

President Barack Obama is hosting a G8 summit meeting at Camp David this weekend. Both civilian aircraft were out of radio communication, the NORAD said in a statement.

The first was intercepted by a NORAD F-15 Eagle fighter jet at approximately 7:03 pm (2303 GMT). It left the restricted area over the retreat and landed at York Airport, Pennsylvania.

The second Cessna was intercepted by an F-15 jet and a HH 60 Black Hawk helicopter at approximately 7:17 pm (2317 GMT) and landed on a grass runway in Pennsylvania, NORAD said. Law enforcement authorities are interviewing both pilots, the statement said.
