The Karachi Port handled 146,708 tonnes of cargo comprising 109,957 tonnes of import cargo and 36,751 tonnes of export cargo including 7,003 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 109,957 tonnes comprised of 65,345 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,777 tonnes of bulk cargo and 29,835 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 36,751 tonnes comprised of 19,540 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,711 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,003 containers comprising of 4,880 containers of import and 2,123 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,014 of 20's and 1,858 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 75 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 531 of 20's and 271 of 40's loaded containers while 392 of 20's and 329 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships carrying containers, oil tankers, cement, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels carrying containers, tanker, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 174,329 tonnes comprising of 112,738 tonnes of import cargo and 61,591 tonnes of export cargo including 4,265 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 112,738 tonnes includes 61,273 tonnes of coal; 7,489 tonnes of mogas; 9,700 tonnes of palm oil; 5,472 tonnes of LPG and 28,804 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 61,591 tonnes includes 4,000 tonnes of rice; 4,780 tonnes of condensate, 580 tonnes of sand and 52,231 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,265 containers comprising of 1,516 containers import and 2,749 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were four ships namely APL Savannah, Kazak, Tiger Tenacity and Tiger Harmony carrying containers, LPG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely X-Press Bardsey, Maersk Pittsburgh and Al-Takeem carrying coal, condensate and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, sand, coal, rice, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen vessels viz. APL Antwerp, CMA CGM Medea, Asphalt Spirit, Baltic Leopard, Bittern, KPS Remzi Bey, Gas Athena, Frahia, Al-Salam-II, BW Danube, Bunun Dynasty, NSH Singapore and Horizon carrying containers, bitumen, spare parts, coal, LPG, LNG, diesel oil; palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were eight ships viz. Maersk Benonville, CMA CGM Medea, Asphalt Spirit, Baltic Leopard, Gas Athena, Frahia, Bunun Dynasty and NSH Singapore carrying containers, bitumen, coal, LPG, LNG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There are two ships namely CMA CGM Medea and Smiley Lady carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
