The country's gems export grew by 43 percent to $3.270 million in July-Jan 2019-20, official figures say. Increase in gems export now stands at $981,000 in July-Jan 2019-20 comparing with its export of $2.289 million in July-Jan 2018-19, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows.
Export volume of gems surged by 100 percent or 2 metric tons to 4 metric tons in July-Jan 2019-20 from 2 metric tons in July-Jan 2018-19.
Pakistan exported $685,000 of gems in Jan 2020, which is higher by 578.22 percent or $584,000 from $101,000 in Jan 2019. Gems export quantity remained stagnant in Jan 2020 with one metric ton.
Jewellery export slumped by 17.27 percent or $588,000 to $2.816 million in July-Jan 2019-20 from $3.404 million in July-Jan 2018-19.
Down by 24 percent or $74000, jewellery export remained $239,000 in Jan 2010 from $313,000 in Jan 2019.
