Partial lockdown to prevent the spread of deadly Corona Virus (COVID-19) begun in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said reports pouring from different parts of the province.
The provincial government has decided to close shopping centres, bazaars and inter-district transport as precautionary measure against COVID-19 in the province. A three-day partial lock down has begun in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as most of the shopping centres and bazaars remained closed on Sunday. The lock down will continue till Tuesday. Inter-district public transport has also been closed as precautionary measure.
Public transport on roads in the city remained thin and bazaars were presenting deserted look as people have restricted their movement and remain indoor. Similar reports were also being received from other districts like Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Malakand, Dir Lower, Hazara region and other districts of the province.
Talking to media, Advisor to KP CM on Information, Ajmal Wazir said that the number of Corona Virus positive cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reached to 31 while the total number of suspects is 170. He said that five persons from Mardan were relatives, two positive cases from Peshawar are being kept in quarantine at Police Services Hospital, one positive case has also been reported from Dera Ismail Khan when a elderly woman was declared positive that later died due to her week condition. She came from Taftan, Iran to Dera Ismail Khan and later on died and thus with eight more positive cases the toll rises up to 31, he informed.
Ajmal Wazir said that the Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan has taken urgent steps in the wake of COVID-19 and issued order for immediate deployment of 1299 doctors. He said as directed by the Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan, all out, steps have been taken to facilitate the people. He said from March 22-24, all the shopping malls, markets and restaurants would remain closed and those violating the directives of the government would stern action. Only pharmacy, grocery, atta stores, milk shops, auto-shops, petrol pumps, fruits and vegetable shops would remain open to facilitate people in getting essentials.
The advisor urged upon the people to cooperate with the government in the larger interest of the people, saying the government is committed to protect the peoples' lives by utilizing all available resources.
He said the Task Force has also been established under the supervision of the Chief Minister that monitors development relating to Corona virus.
