The number of coronavirus cases has reached 34 in Lahore amid unconfirmed reports about transmitting of virus at local level, raising an alarm among the health authorities. When contacted, an official of the health department said they were monitoring the situation closely, but local transmission could not be confirmed.
Two coronavirus patients are being treated at Jinnah Hospital and Services Hospital respectively while the majority of the corona cases were being treated at Mayo Hospital.
Separate operation theaters have been designated at the Lahore General Hospital for patients suspected to have contracted the coronavirus so that in case of an emergency there should not be any delay in the treatment of the coronavirus patients.
The Principal of the Post-Graduate Medical Institute, Professor Alfreed Zafar, told the media that people involved in road accidents and expectant mothers needed urgent surgery because in the present situation there might be symptoms of the coronavirus even in such patients. He said such patients would be treated separately and operated upon immediately so that other patients could not be affected by this virus.
He said that the slogan "Stay Home Save Lives" should be made public so as to raise awareness among the people about the dangers, symptoms and precautions of this virus. Moreover, Jinnah Hospital Lahore has also set up an isolation ward for treatment of coronavirus cases.
