Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim
The Karachi Port handled 199,944 tonnes of cargo comprising 166,376 tonnes of import cargo and 33,568 tonnes of export cargo including 2,662 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 166,376 tonnes comprised of 34,175 tonnes of containerised cargo; 22,982 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,616 tonnes of rock phosphate; 2,350 tonnes of chemical and 102,253 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 33,568 tonnes comprised of 33,368 tonnes of containerised cargo and 200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,662 containers comprising of 1,585 containers of import and 1,077 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 235 of 20's and 675 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 283 of 20's and 243 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 154 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely CMA CGM Racing, Shiling, Diyala, Blue Moon, Chemtrans Adriatic and Grand Hermes carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Wan Hai-611, CMA CGM Racing, Diyala, Blue Moon, Sea Power, Songa Breeze, Voyager and Al-Yasat-II carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Liana carrying oil tanker expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are five vessels viz. Botany Bay, YM Excellence, Chemroute Brilliant, Immortal Gold and Oriental Protea carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while three more vessels viz. Pacific Spring, APL Le Haver and MT Khairpur carrying containers and mogas respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 59,750 tonnes includes 7,042 tonnes of coal; 000 tonnes of mogas; 13,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,551 tonnes of LPG and 36,157 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,300 tonnes includes 32,300 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,603 containers comprising of 1,903 containers import and 1,700 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely MSC Ludovica carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely White Purl carrying LPG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight vessels viz. MSC Asya, New courage, PGC Periklis, Gas Amazon, Kharaita, Falcon Royal, Chemranger and Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, LPG, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. MSC Asya, Maersk Atlanta, New Courage, PCG Periklis and Octaden carrying containers, general cargo, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely Maersk Atlanta and Octaden carrying containers and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely MOL Grandeur carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
