Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim
The Karachi Port handled 155,507 tonnes of cargo comprising 116,869 tonnes of import cargo and 38,638 tonnes of export cargo including 7,674 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 116,869 tonnes comprised of 57,390 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,795 tonnes of rock phosphate; 2,237 tonnes of chemical; 9,863 tonnes of DAP and 36,584 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 38,638 tonnes comprised of 32,688 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5,950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,674 containers comprising of 4,078 containers of import and 3,596 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,206 of 20's and 1,425 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 11 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 694 of 20's and 777 of 40's loaded containers while 378 of 20's and 485 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely APL Le Havre, Immortal Gold, MT Karachi and Oriental Protea carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were two vessels viz. APL Le Havre and Sundoro carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Wan Hai-611 carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday.
There are two vessels viz. MOL Grandeur and Cosco Amrica carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four more vessels viz. Northern Dexterity, Oriental Rose, Xin Rui Hai and Nippon Highway carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker and vehicle respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 180,709 tonnes comprising of 113,711 tonnes of import cargo and 66,998 tonnes of export cargo including 4,731 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 113,711 tonnes includes 56,109 tonnes of coal; 10,800 tonnes of palm oil; 2,302 tonnes of palm kernel; 20,067 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,177 tonnes of LPG and 23,256 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 66,998 tonnes includes 365 tonnes of project cargo and 66,633 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,731 containers comprising of 1,224 containers import and 3,507 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were five ships namely MOL Grandeur, Maersk Atlanta, New Courage, PGC Periklis and BW Denube carrying containers, general cargo, LPG and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four more ships namely MSC Asya, IVS Ocudogo, IVS Hayakita and Octaden carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of thirteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven vessels viz. Kota Nekad, Seacon-8, Abu A Abyad, Nordic Tian Jin, BW Kobe, Klara Oldendroff, Gaschem Shinano, Gas Amazon, Falcon Royal, Chemranger and Horizon carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, canola, chemical, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. Maersk Atlanta, Hansa America, Xiamen, Abu A Abyad and Gaschem Shinano carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were two ships namely Maersk Atlanta and Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while two more ships namely APL Antwerp and Thorsky carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
