Pakistan Air Line Pilots' Association (PALPA) has sought a written surety from the management of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) for immediate medical care in case of any crew contracting COVID-19.
The demand was given by General Secretary Palpa Capt Narejo after the announcement made by PIA to operate four international flights on humanitarian ground to facilitate stranded passengers for their safe returns.
He urged PIA management for taking protective measures before temporary resumption of international flight operations and expressed strong concern over the lack of pre-requisite measures being taken to ensure the safety and security of crew during ongoing challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide.
He also cited the need of safety precautions to Chief of Flight Operations/DFO, Flight Operations Department, PIACL and expressed Palpa commitment for ensuring safer skies in the country, while keeping the health and safety of members paramount.
Capt Narejo also advised on taking measures before the crew is called to perform the duty and said the protective measures SOP for crew, aircraft, and passengers to be shared with PALPA for review.
He urged the management on flight patterns to be shared with PALPA so as to assure no FDTL violations are made and added that a written surety should be provided for immediate medical care in case of any crew contracting COVID-19.
