Turkey's TMO state grain board has provisionally purchased about 175,000 tonnes of wheat in a series of tenders that closed on Friday, European traders said.
The purchases were for optional origin but a substantial volume was expected to be sourced in the Black Sea region, traders said. The lowest price was believed to be $237 a tonne c&f. Prices and tonnage purchased are subject to final confirmation in coming days, traders said.
The TMO had issued a series of individual tenders of between 20,000 and 30,000 tonnes, seeking red milling wheat with minimum 13.5% protein content for shipment between April 7 and April 27.
