Cement factories being exempted from restrictions: 1000-bedded field hospital to be operational today: Buzdar
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday said that 1000-bedded Hospital at Expo centre Lahore will be made functional from Wednesday (today) and situation with regard to medical and administrative affairs is under control in the province of Punjab.
Addressing a news conference here, Buzdar said that cement factories in Punjab are being exempted from restrictions. A notification to this effect is being issued as per recommendation of Cabinet Committee on Corona.
Announcing release of those arrested for violating section 144, he said the people should stay at home and also ensure social distancing.
He said that doctors and health professionals engaged in the treatment of coronavirus patients will be given one month's additional salary. The Punjab government will also give incentives to the heirs of doctors, health professionals and employees died during the anti-coronavirus campaign under Shuhada Package, he added.
The CM stated that Rs12 billion have been given to the health department while Police has been given Rs 250 million to meet its operational needs while ten thousand people will be recruited in police.
The chief minister said that Rs 620 million have been released to set up labs at divisional headquarters. A committee has also been formed to provide protective kits at district level.
He said that a team of Chinese experts is due in Lahore and decision about Home Quarantine has been kept pending till discussions with Chinese experts.
He said health department has been directed to expand testing facilities, at PKLI, two labs are conducting tests. He said directions have been issued for spray in mosques and public places.
To a question, he said they respected members of Tableeghi Jammat and no body will be allowed to mishandle them.
Health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said that our researchers are engaged in research on Corona.
