(Karachi) Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Zafar Mirza has said that 31 people have so far died of coronavirus in the country.

Addressing a media briefing on Thursday, he said the number of coronavirus patients in the country has reached 2,291 figure. He said 107 patients infected with the disease have recovered.

Zafar said that nine patients suffering from the disease are in critical condition.

He added that 845 confirmed cases have been reported in Punjab, 743 in Sindh, 276 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 62 in Islamabad, 169 in Balochistan, and 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan. The special assistant said that 8o percent tests of people in quarantine came out negative.

Mirza maintained that the government is closely monitoring the coronavirus situation in the country. He mentioned that the lockdown in Pakistan will continue till April 14.

He urged people to send in ideas to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. Zafar said citizens can send their ideas on various matters including keeping their homes and cities safe, personal protective equipment and keeping the supply chain running to the government's website.
