DUHS will soon raise capacity of Covid-19 tests to 1,000 daily: VC
Prof. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy, Vice-Chancellor of the Dow University of Health Sciences, said that due to the corona emergency, the capacity of the test will soon be increased to 1,000 tests a day.
"After machine and kits arrive tomorrow (Friday), we will be increasing our corona testing capability to a thousand tests a day, and a free telemedicine clinic is also being launched at Dow Hospital on Friday for general patients," he said.
Talking to some media people from his office by telephone, he said that the hundreds of tests they had done so far, they could say that the average of positive cases was 9 percent.
He said that the process of screening in the province was being intensified. There were fourteen isolation beds in Dow, while at the moment they had ten corona patients, four of whom were on ventilators.
As far as the rate of recovery of corona patients was concerned he said that "whoever came here went back with complete recovery".
He said that a research team at Dow had been working on finding a cure for the coronavirus. He said that patients were being monitored round the clock.
"We will give feedback on treatment of corona after the completion of this research."
Prof. Muhammad Saeed Quraishy said that due to corona emergency, our OPDs have been closed which is causing problems for patients with common diseases. A free online clinic is being started at the Dow University Hospital where our specialist doctors will perform duties from 6am to 2pm Monday to Saturday.
Patients of gynecology, medicine and psychiatry would be able to get free consultations and prescriptions from the specialists, he said.
