Covid-19 outbreak: 920 tested positive across Punjab so far: Dr Yasmin

As many as 17069 coronavirus tests were conducted across the province of Punjab out of whom 920 were tested positive, the Punjab health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, said.

As many as 17069 coronavirus tests were conducted across the province of Punjab out of whom 920 were tested positive, the Punjab health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, said.
Out of these tests, 4039 tests were conducted through the lab of health department in Lahore, 500 at Nishter hospital Multan, 2238 through Shaukat Khanum hospital, 2450 through NIH Islamabad, while 7312 tests were conducted through private labs.
On the other hand, with eight new dengue cases, the total number of coronavirus positive cases has reached to 928 in Punjab. With five new cases in Lahore, the total number of coronavirus cases has reached to 204. So far 11 deaths have been reported in Punjab, out of which five in Lahore, four in Rawalpindi and one each in Faisalabad and Rahim Yar Khan.
There are around 130 patients in Mayo Hospital Lahore who are being extended necessary health facilities. Six patients have recovered from coronavirus and discharged from the hospital, sources said, adding: "There are 24 confirmed patients of coronavirus at the PKLI."
The Lahore General Hospital (LGH) in its central Research Lab., has also established BSL Level 3 facility, where PCR tests of coronavirus patients would also be conducted as per WHO's guidelines.
In this Lab, about 300 tests will be performed round the clock and soon the number will be increased upto 500.
Principal Postgraduate Medical Institute and Ameer Uddin Medical College Professor Dr Sardar Muhammad Alfreed Zafar said that Dr Ghazala Ruby, Director Research Lab PhD will only be authorized to attest the report issued by the Lab for coronavirus.
He said the team of Punjab Healthcare Commission has reviewed the arrangements of BSL Level 3 and expressed satisfaction that the lab was being maintained in accordance with the international standards. In this Lab, about 300 tests will be performed round the clock and soon the number will be increased to 500.
