Prime Minister's Corona Relief Tiger Force has received an unprecedented response from the people, which is reflected in registration of over half a million people in just three days.
This was stated by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar, while talking to journalists about interest shown by the volunteers who offered their services to help the government in carrying out relief activities across the country in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Corona Relief Tiger Force, announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan, started registering people above 18 years of age at the Pakistan Citizen's Portal (PCP) on March 31 to avail the services of volunteers to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.
"Since announcement of Tiger Force, over 567,000 volunteers have registered their names online, which shows that the youth has responded to the prime minister's call enthusiastically," said Dar.
He appreciated the passion of the youth and thanked them for showing keenness in assisting the government in such a testing time.
"That is the spirit we required from our youth to avert the prevailing crisis," Dar remarked.
He called upon the people to register themselves only at the PCP for joining the Corona Relief Tiger Force, and warned against all other sources and platforms who had been offering such services.
According to details shared by an official at the Prime Minister's Office, some 383,240 people had signed up for the tiger force from Punjab, 85,889 from Sindh, 74,419 from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and 8,763 from the federal capital.
More than 14,000 people from Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir also expressed their interest in joining the force, he said.
