Sugar, flour crises: ANP demands action against 'culprits'

ANP's president, Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that if the government is really interested in indiscriminate accountability then it should take stern action in light of report on sugar and flour crisis in the country.
In a statement issued, here Sunday from Wali Bagh, Charsadda, he called for taking stern action all those found involved in the stealing of the public exchequer and pushing the people to crisis like situation. He said that anyone either he is minister, adviser or chief minister should be granted exemplary punishment to prove accountability process as visible and impartial.
The ANP chief said that the report has proved that all those capitalists that have role in bringing the present government into power have obtained a lot from it and the affectees are only the poor that they are hardships in getting two time meals.
He said that he although the poor people already knew that who the thief of the sugar is. But, the huge investments were used for keeping the people quite. He said that though Prime Minister Imran Khan wants to take the credit of making the report public, but questions will still arise that where was the government and in its responsible authorities when the thieves of sugar and flour were playing their game.
He said that now they want to see that the Prime Minister will propose what kind of punishment for their investors' ministers as the same mafia is still flanking him. He said that Imran Khan will still not believing and will be waiting for another report.
Asfandyar Wali Khan said that an amnesty scheme has been announced for the construction sector investors and now a possibility for protecting thee blue-eyed persons of the Prime Minister could not be ruled out.
He said that the champions of the accountability are now in search of different excuses to hide the corruption of their own ministers. He said that the people are now waiting that what kind of action the Prime Minister Imran Khan is going to take against Jehangir Tareen, Khisro Bakhtiar and other allies.
He said that the report has been made public at such critical juncture when Corona virus has played havoc and it is an hour of unity and solidarity, but anything can happen in Pakistan and as the report has been made public. Then there is a need to punish all those responsible for the sugar and flour crisis in the country.
The veteran politician said that an individual had been disqualified by the apex court of the country, but he is still part and parcel of all official decisions and meetings. He said that as they were speaking in past and today also that the person sitting in the office of the Prime Minister will not take action against his own people.
He reiterated his demand if the government really wants accountability it should begin from these people and bringing of all facts before the people. He was of the opinion that in case of even-handed and indiscriminate accountability no member of the present cabinet will remain safe.
