Motorists' movement tightened at Capital's entry, exit points

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration on Tuesday further tightened movement of motorists at all entry and exit points of the capital in the wake of increase in number of coronavirus cases.
Personnel of police and Rangers have been deployed at all entry and exits points including Faizabad, the IJP Road, Chuangi 26 and other points, to restrict the entry of vehicles into the city.
The number of coronavirus cases rose in the federal capital on Tuesday to 83, bringing the country's tally of the COVID-19 infections to 4,004, according to the official data.
According to the official data, the Punjab has 2,004 cases followed by Sindh 932, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 500, Balochistan 2002, Gilgit-Baltistan 211, and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 18.
Till the filling of this report, 229 coronavirus patients have so far recovered, and 54 have died across the country.
According to officials, at the moment there are 83 confirmed patients in the city. Only 12 are admitted at hospitals and remaining all are without any serious symptoms and are home quarantined. So far, the ICT Administration has checked more than 71,000 houses and tested 2,700 people, he said.
Like other parts of the country, majority of the shops in the major markets in both the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi including Aabpara, Karachi Company, Peshawar Mor, F-6 and F-7, I-8, G-10 Markaz, Commercial Market, Raja Bazaar, Pindora as well as several other smaller markets remain closed. Shops including medical stores/pharmacies, bakeries, meat, milk, and grocery stores remained open.
The administration also issued orders to allow private clinics to open with precautionary measures and SOPs. They also allowed out patient departments (OPDs) in private hospitals but strictly as per the set SOPs.
Similarly, the administration allowed branches/outlets of exchange companies licensed by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to continue their operations.
The capital administration also permitted optical shops to open their business to meet the citizens' requirement.
The public transport has been banned, however, taxi drivers as well as some pick-up drivers managed to run their vehicles on traditional routes.
The district administration teams of both the cities continued price checking at various markets as well as at the fruit and Sabzi Mandi. During inspections, several shopkeepers were penalized and heavy fines were imposed.
