Christians celebrate Easter in lockdown
The Christian community in Karachi on Sunday celebrated the Easter amid COVID-19 fears and lockdown. People mostly opted to stay at homes and arranged small gatherings at rooftops of their buildings to mark the day, as the provincial government has imposed lock down in the metropolis to stem the spread of COVID-19.
Sindh Minister for Information, Forest, Religious Affairs and Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that limitising the Easter gatherings by the Christian community is an example of sacrifice and country love and Sindh Government appreciated the community's effort.
Nasir Hussain said that practice of respecting the Sindh government orders is highly appreciable as all the stakeholders are on one the page on the coronavirus issue.
Nasir Shah applauded the effort of limiting the Easter gatherings, considering the current situation and said that the Christian community has always contributed and participated in the progress and development of Pakistan and Sindh govt highly appreciates the devotion and sacrifice of the followers of Jesus.
Nasir Shah also congratulated Easter to all the Christians of Pakistan and world.
Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has extended greetings to the Christian community in Pakistan and the world over on the Easter being celebrated today.
In his message, the PPP Chairman said that this Easter is being celebrated while almost entire world is having a lockdown to prevent coronoavirus from ravaging the human population.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appealed the Christian community in Pakistan to hold prayers from their homes for elimination of Coronavirus from the world, and for peace and prosperity.
He exhorted the people to observe and strictly follow the lockdown conditions announced by the government during performance of religious prayers to check the spread of the contagious virus.
