Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday said that the coronavirus pandemic has destroyed the country's economy and called upon the government to formulate a policy for post-coronavirus situation.

Talking to reporters during his visit to Peshawar Press Club here, JUI-F chief said that the Pakistani economy is sinking due to wrong policies and incumbent incompetent rulers. He criticised the state institutions and said they have failed to provide relief to people, asking to present volunteers to local administration beyond any political affiliation and differences.

Fazl furthermore castigated the present rulers and said they are incapable to deal with coronavirus situation. He added that the way state affairs are being run is clearly indicating that the incumbent government was not taking serious interest to overcome the current crisis situation.

He asserted that the government should formulate a policy for post-coronavirus situation. Supreme Court's remarks about SAPM Zafar Mirza exposed govt's poor response to the outbreak, he added.

JUI-F chief said the entire humanity is passing through a difficult situation due to coronavirus pandemic. He said Pakistan is badly affected by coronavirus while grave concern exists in rest of the world in this regard.

"We pray to the creator of this earth to help us overcome this pandemic," he observed and added that the European countries are far more worst affected as compared to Asia from this deadly virus. He stressed upon formulating a strategy to revive the country's economy hit by coronavirus pandemic.

He claimed that inquiry report of sugar and wheat crisis was leaked and said that PM Imran Khan should reveal details of BRT project, Billion Tree programme and foreign funding case if he wants accountability.

JUI-F chief said that his party's anti-government campaign has been suspended due to coronavirus outbreak in the country. The party chief also criticised National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and said that the Bureau is busy in targeting politicians from day one.

He asked to not file FIR against the caretaker of mosques, saying that if people are standing in long queues outside banks, roaming in bazaars and streets, so what is wrong with gathering in mosques, he questioned.
