Anti-Covid strategy: Centre, Sindh government must shun differences: Kamal

Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal Monday said that the alarm bell has rung as Union Councils are being sealed due to fear of COVID-19 outbreak.

"I urge the federal and provincial governments, for God's sake, set aside their differences and be on the same page as the situation is worsening due to the fast spread of coronavirus in the country."

Kamal expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Pakistan House. Party President Anis Qaimkhani, former cricket captain Javed Miandad, singer Rahim Shah, actor Faisal Qazi, members of the PSP Central Executive Committee and the National Council were also present.

The PSP chief said the provincial government says there should be a lockdown; whereas federal government says there should be no lockdown.

Nations around the world have forgotten their animosity and coping with the challenge posed by the virus with unity.

Whereas, we are witnessing that the Sindh government and the federal government are holding news conferences against each other. Rulers are fighting like children with each other which is hazardous for the country. There is not a single country in the world where the provincial and federal governments are holding press conferences against each other in the hours of trouble.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, many countries around the world have settled their differences.... the whole world is changing but the rulers and politicians of Pakistan are not ready to change their attitudes and behaviors.

"Governments around the world are facilitating their doctors and paramedics because doctors are working tirelessly to cure the COVID-19 patients. On the other hand our doctors lack PPEs. As a result of the government incapability, incompetence and insensitivity, a large number of doctors and paramedics in Pakistan got infected with coronavirus.

It is feared that coronavirus outbreak will increase alarmingly at the end of this month.

"We have been crying for about one and a half months that the government should work with 1.5 lakh local bodies' representatives and all parties should instruct their workers to join them. We have the worst enemies - MQM-led municipal governments in Karachi and Hyderabad. Still I urge that COVID-related relief work should be carried out through local bodies' representatives."

If the government decides, I ask my workers to surrender before the MQM councilors and work with them.

I want the Prime Minister and all four provincial chiefs to sit together and talk to tackle this grim situation. The politics we are doing today will not last till tomorrow because death does not see anybody.
