Afridi appointed chairman of Parliamentary body on Kashmir

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser Thursday appointed Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Shehryar Afridi as chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir. Shehryar Afridi has replaced Syed Fakhar Imam who was leading the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir since 2019.

Shehryar Afridi served as the Minister of State for Interior from 31 August 2018 to 18 April 2019. He has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018.

Fakhar Imam had submitted his resignation to the speaker National Assembly from the post of chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir after his nomination as Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research. The speaker National Assembly on Thursday accepted the resignation of Fakhar Imam from the post of parliamentary Committee on Kashmir.
