There appears to be one factor common between India and Pakistan in relation to the two countries' response to the coronavirus challenge: both are struggling to raise their testing capacities. It is therefore a matter of great satisfaction that Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, Dr Zafar Mirza has announced the government is vigorously working to increase the coronavirus testing capacity from 3,000 daily to 25,000 daily. According to him, within the next few weeks, Pakistan will start producing N95 masks for health professionals dealing with the Covid-19 patients. PPEs constitute another challenge to both India and Pakistan. Both the countries are now said to be working on productive equipments (PPEs) required by medics exposed to the coronavirus.
Having said that, I would urge prime minister of India Narendra Modi to ensure export of medicines and raw material for medicines to Pakistan since his country is one of the major producers of drugs and drug raw material in the world.
