MCC seizes cigarettes, cigars worth Rs 43 million
Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Preventive on Friday confiscated huge cache of smuggled cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobaccos worth Rs 43 million in separate raids at different parts old city areas.
According to details, the action was taken on a tip-off, which revealed that substantial quantity of smuggled cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobaccos were dumped in different vicinities of the metropolis.
Reacting on this information, Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) team of MCC, Preventive conducted raids at four separate warehouses located in Rangwala building Boltan Market and Bandar Road.
As a result, the ASO team has recovered huge cache of smuggled cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobaccos from these warehouses. The seized goods include 12,995 sticks of assorted brands of cigarettes, 3,150 packets of cigars, 565 packets of tobaccos of Captain Black and Erin More brands and 195 bags of Indian gutka.
Consequent upon recovery, a case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
