Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that 209 new cases of the coronavirus have emerged during the last 24 hours. Of the total number of cases, 132 are from the Tablighi Jamaat while 77 are dwellers of the slum areas.

In his video message, the chief minister said that the number of tests conducted in the province so far was 21,272 which resulted in 2,217 positive cases. Meanwhile, Shah disclosed that two more coronavirus patients had died, taking the death toll in the province to 47, which was 2.1 percent of the total number of the coronavirus patients. The chief minister said 4,653 members of the Tablighi Jamaat had been tested, and 429 diagnosed as positive while 91 results were being awaited.

He said that the coronavirus positive patients of the Tablighi Jamaat were being kept in isolation. The chief minister said that under a new strategy the areas where more cases were being detected would be closed completely. He said he had been totally upset over the frequency of the spread of the coronavirus.

Shah said that without observing complete social distancing and isolation the government would not be able to contain the virus. He said that the collection of samples in the hot spots of the city had been increased.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that the data available with him showed that the Pakistanis living abroad had been affected by the coronavirus more than the Pakistanis living in the country.
