Gwadar Port resumes operation for Afghan transit trade
- Dawood informed that the shipments of sugar, fertilizer, and wheat will be transported in sealed trucks to Afghanistan.

Pakistan commerce ministry has operationalized the Gwadar Port for Afghan transit trade under Afghanistan–Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement-2010 (APTTA), informed Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood on Tuesday.
The advisor in a series of tweets informed that the shipments of sugar, fertilizer, and wheat will be transported in sealed trucks to Afghanistan. In this regard, 16000 Metric Tons (MT) of DAP and WFP cargo of 500,000MT of wheat for Afghanistan will arrive next month.
“Ships from China will also offload at Gwadar,” he said.

The advisor was of the view that the development fulfills the long-standing request of the business community and the shipping industry, and will pave the way for generating business opportunities and employment both in Gwadar and along our highways.
“This move will kickstart port operations at Gwadar port which will also create and adopt eco-friendly initiatives to reduce energy usage and avoid costly oil spillovers for another big seaport of Pakistan,” said Dawood.
