The Karachi Port handled 72,979 tonnes of cargo comprising 43,569 tonnes of import cargo and 29,410 tonnes of export cargo including 3,276 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 43,569 tonnes comprised of 32,526 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,706 tonnes of bulk cargo and 7,337 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 29,410 tonnes comprised of 10,025 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of general cargo; 15,200 tonnes of bulk cargo and 4,035 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,276 containers comprising of 2,638 containers of import and 638 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 641 of 20's and 751 of 40's loaded while 55 of 20's and 220 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 316 of 20's and 124 of 40's loaded containers while 26 of 20's and 24 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Polo, Oriental Rose, Bow Flower and MT Khairpur carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 176,885 tonnes comprising of 138,558 tonnes of import cargo and 38,327 tonnes of export cargo including 2,875 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 138,558 tonnes includes 54,709 tonnes of coal; 4,700 tonnes of soyabean; 43,262 tonnes of steel coil; 6,000 tonnes of LPG and 29,887 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 38,327 tonnes includes 13,589 tonnes of condensate and 24,738 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,875 containers comprising of 1,573 containers import and 1,302 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were four ships namely Osaka Tower, MSC Marianna, CL Heidi and Jag Lyoll carrying containers, coal and crude oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely Santos Eagle, Kazak and Epic Manhattan carrying coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of thirteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, LPG and condensate respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. MOL Courage, MSC Lisban, Diyala, Ashiya Star, Universal Bremen, Nemea, Star Topaz, Lyric Poet, True Friend, Gas Zeus, Nardic Anny and Chemroad Polaris carrying containers, steel coils, coal, soyabean, cement, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. MSC Lisban, Diyala, Lyric Poet and Chemroad Polaris carrying containers, soyabean and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There are no ships due to arrive on Tuesday.
