Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has urged the authorities concerned to immediately release the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, Hamza Shahbaz, over fears he might get infected in the presence of suspected Covid-19 inmates in the Camp Jail.
The Punjab PML-N Information Secretary Uzma Bokhari said that there has been a surge in coronavirus cases in the Camp Jail Lahore, which is a cause for concern for Hamza and his family.
"We request that Hamza be released on humanitarian grounds," she said.
It may be noted that there are around 59 prisoners in Lahore jails only as compared with 94 prisoners in the prisons across the province.
Uzma Bokhari said Hamza had been in jail for several months now, but no reference was filed against him in income beyond means case so far.
