The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration on Wednesday sealed a seminary after its Khateeb and six other family members were tested positive for the coronavirus.

An ICT official said the administration sealed Madrassa and mosque "Babul Islam" located in Sector F-7 after its Khateeb and six other family members were tested positive for the Covid-19.

The official said the father of the Khateeb was also tested positive and had died few days ago, after which his relatives were tested for the Covid-19.

The test reports confirmed that the virus had infected Khateeb and six other family members, he said, adding the administration also conducted tests of people having been in contact with the family members of the Khateeb.

Some people had also been quarantined after sealing the premises, he said.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad increased from 185 to 194 on Wednesday.

Out of 194 patients, three had died, and 26 had so far recovered, an official said.

The country's tally of the Covid-19 infections has reached 9,749. According to the official data, Punjab has 4,328 cases followed by Sindh 3,053, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 1,345, Balochistan 495, Gilgit-Baltistan 283, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 51.

Till the filling of this report, 2,156 coronavirus patients have so far recovered, and 209 have died across the country.

Majority of coronavirus cases have been reported from Bhara Kahu, Tarlai, Lohi Bher, sectors G-8, G-10, I-10, F-10 and Shahzad Town. Despite rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the city, gross violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) continues unchecked especially after exemption was given to some businesses including hardware, stationery and book shops, hairdressers, auto workshops, tyre puncture, spare parts shops, and tailor shops from lockdown.
