Coronavirus situation in country could worsen if timely measures not taken, warns PMA president

(Karachi) Pakistan Medical Association President Dr Ashraf Nizami has warned that the situation related to coronavirus in the country could worsen if timely measures are not taken keeping in view the increasing number of cases at a rapid pace.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he said that three to four weeks are important for the whole country with regards to the disease. "The government is the captain of this ship, it should review this decision. Allowing people to pray within a distance of 6 feet is not practical."
He added the government should reinforce lockdown on the pattern of Saudi Arabia, Dubai and other states. He said the government should take measures to make the lockdown more effective.
Dr Nizami has said that the government's announcement of lifting restrictions can prove disastrous for the nation. "If God forbid the coronavirus situation gets out of control, it could lead to more number of cases and deaths and the doctors might have to treat patients on roads."
The PMA president maintained that the chief justice and other institutions should play their role in controlling the situation and countering the deadly virus. " It is possible that the number of cases could be in millions," he mentuioned.
He said the only way to defeat the pandemic is to take precautionary measures and adopt social distancing.
