Markazi Tanzeem-e-Tajran Pakistan (MTTP) on Thursday urged the federal and provincials governments not to do politics on coronavirus and come up with a national action plan to combat COVID-19 to reduce its economic implications.

Muhammad Kashif Chaudhry, president MTTP flanked by President MTTP Punjab Sharjeel Mir addressing a press conference on Thursday stated that if lockdown was necessary to stop coronavirus, then government should impose curfew by taking the business organizations into confidence, so that the nation could be saved from the virus.

If lockdown was not the solution, then government should allow all industries and businesses to resume operations in Ramzan, said Chaudhry.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan was raising funds to combat the coronavirus and its impact on economy, but was not ready to talk to economic stakeholders to improve the economy. The government lacks plan of action regarding the lockdown.

The shops and businesses are closed but the whole country is moving freely, said Chaudhry, adding that there is a tug-of-war between the Center and the provinces to combat coronavirus and the federation and the provinces are not on the same page.

Chaudhry said that the federation and the provinces should stop politics at the cost of millions of human lives and formulate a national action plan with the confidence of the parliament and businessmen in which the four provinces should announce a clear policy, in the name of smart lockdown.

Markets across the country are closed in the name of smart lockdown. Sindh and Balochistan chief ministers hold talks with traders but to no avail, while Punjab and KP chief ministers do not have time to meet the country's economic stakeholders.

They also condemned the arrest and trial of business leaders in Karachi and demanded their immediate release. "Examples of China are given but our government has not implemented the Chinese method," said traders leaders, adding that it has been a month and a half since the lockdown but the provinces and the federation have not yet come to the same page on the lockdown.

Within 24 hours of the announcement of the losses on account of coronavirus by the prime minister, all the provinces declared a lockdown and called on the Pakistani forces to assist the civil government across the country in combating the corona epidemic.

After which in the second phase, the prime minister spoke of increasing the partial lockdown for 14 days but the lockdown was tightened in Sindh. Chaudhry demanded that all businesses be allowed to open during Ramzan. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan should show seriousness in difficult situation and hold talks with all stakeholders.
