The Karachi Port handled 54,201 tonnes of cargo comprising 42,812 tonnes of import cargo and 11,389 tonnes of export cargo including 4,545 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 42,812 tonnes comprised of 35,535 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,277 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 11,389 tonnes comprised of 9,591 tonnes of containerised cargo; 348 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,450 tonnes of clinkers and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,545 containers comprising of 2,968 containers of import and 1,577 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The break up of imported containers shows 726 of 20's and 1,095 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 26 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 229 of 20's and 103 of 40's loaded containers while 90 of 20's and 526 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There was one ship namely Sarwar Jahan carrying clinkers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels carrying containers currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 168,714 tonnes comprising of 138,127 tonnes of import cargo and 30,587 tonnes of export cargo including 2,880 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 138,127 tonnes includes 62,568 tonnes of coal; 25,096 tonnes of LNG; 11,170 tonnes of palm oil; 10,000 tonnes of soyabean; 1,800 tonnes of LPG and 27,493 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 30,587 tonnes includes 3,360 tonnes of cement and 27,227 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,880 containers comprising of 1,447 containers import and 1,433 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely MSC Lisban and Al-Sahla carrying containers and LNG sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely Lady Maria and Namea carrying cement and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eleven vessels viz. MOL Courage, Tele Mann, Maersk Jalan, CMA CGM Butterfly, Swallow, Universal Bremen, Star Fighter, Star Topaz, True Friend, Golar Snow and Nardic Anny carrying containers, coal, soyabean, cement, LNG and mogas respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. MOL Courage, Tele Mann, Universal Bremen and Logic Dicle carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Friday.

There are two ships namely Manet and Maersk Jalan carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
