Renowned industrialist and Chairman of Al-Karam Towel Industries Mehtab Uddin Chawla died of the coronavirus on Sunday.
His funeral prayer was offered in DHA, and was laid to rest in the DHA Phase-8 graveyard.
As per details, he had been under treatment at a private hospital for a month.
Chawla was a successful Pakistani businessman and one of the leading towel exporters, who used to put forward useful suggestions/recommendations to the government to increase Pakistan's exports.
He was the chairman of the Towels Manufacturers Association and the chairman of the Site Superhighway Association of Trade and Industry. He was an active member of the Jamiat Dehli Punjabi Sodagran community and enjoyed a prominent position in social circles.
Industrialists and traders including S M Munir, Iftekhar Malik, Zubair F Tufail, Abdul Haseeb Khan, Ilyas Bilour, Siraj Kasem Teli, Khalid Tawab, Engineer Daru Khan, Tariq Haleem, Sheikh Umar Rehan, Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Gulzar Feroz, Abdul Sami Khan, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig etc have expressed their profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of chawla.
Talking to media, Patron-in-Chief, United Business Group (UBG) S M Munir said that the demise of Mehtab Chawla has come as a great shock to Pakistani industrialists. Al-Karam Towels has been a significant contributor to Pakistan's textile exports.
He asked the people across the country to take precautionary measures against Covid-19 pandemic and follow the instructions of the government to prevent further spread of the global pandemic.
