The Karachi Port handled 32,449 tonnes of cargo comprising 21,500 tonnes of import cargo and 10,949 tonnes of export cargo including 1,404 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 21,500 tonnes comprised of 6,881 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,569 tonnes of bulk cargo 512 tonnes of general cargo and 5,538 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 10,949 tonnes comprised of 10,949 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 1,404 containers comprising of 609 containers of import and 795 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 157 of 20's and 121 of 40's loaded while 12 of 20's and 99 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 304 of 20's and 128 of 40's loaded containers while 33 of 20's and 101 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There was one ship namely Asleria Leader carrying vehicle sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels carrying containers and oil tankers currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 213,394 tonnes comprising of 177,427 tonnes of import cargo and 35,967 tonnes of export cargo including 2,433 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 177,427 tonnes includes 70,497 tonnes of coal; 28,750 tonnes of LNG; 35,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,579 tonnes of palm oil; 9,500 tonnes of soyabean; 17,594 tonnes of chemical; 957 tonnes of project cargo and 8,550 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 35,967 tonnes includes 35,967 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,433 containers comprising of 460 containers import and 1,893 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were three ships namely YU Chang, Chemroad Rose and CT Confidence carrying project cargo, chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely Maersk Jalan and Neveska Lady carrying containers and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eleven vessels viz. Kyota Express, Paovoda Wisdom, Swallow, IVS Corim Son Creek, African Spoonbill, Star Topaz, Epic Salina, Glory Harvest, Golar Snow, Nardic Anny and Sun Dara carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, mogas and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Thorsky, MSC Ajaccio, Paovoda Wisdom and Epic Salina carrying containers, steel coil and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Monday.

There are two ships namely MSC Ajaccio and Thorsky carrying containers due to arrive on Monday while two ships namely CSAV Tyndall and Maersk Denver carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
