The Karachi Port handled 130,235 tonnes of cargo comprising 65,556 tonnes of import cargo and 64,679 tonnes of export cargo including 7,849 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 65,556 tonnes comprised of 48,687 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,869 tonnes of bulk cargo and 8,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 64,679 tonnes comprised of 45,753 tonnes of containerised cargo; 198 tonnes of bulk cargo and 18,728 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 7,849 containers comprising of 3,585 containers of import and 4,264 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 848 of 20's and 1,343 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 25 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,207 of 20's and 824 of 40's loaded containers while 443 of 20's and 483 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely MT Quetta, Osaka Star and Zhen Hua-28 carrying oil tanker, canola and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 155,284 tonnes comprising of 119,999 tonnes of import cargo and 35,285 tonnes of export cargo including 3,330 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 119,999 tonnes includes 35,100 tonnes of coal; 17,644 tonnes of LNG; 13,680 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,000 tonnes of palm oil; 3,000 tonnes of soyabean; 2,525 tonnes of LPG and 37,050 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 35,285 tonnes includes 9,065 tonnes of cement and 26,220 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,330 containers comprising of 1,950 containers import and 1,380 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There was one ship namely Golar Snow carrying LPG sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while six more ships namely Maersk Denver, MOL Grandeur, IVS Crimson Creek, Lyric Poit, Epic Sentosa and Chem Harvest carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LPG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen vessels viz. Kyota Express, Maersk Brooklyn, African Spoonbill, Star Topaz, Glory Navigator, White Purl, Glory Harvest, King Craft, Tomini Prosperity, Nardic Anny, Chembulk Kobe, Autaurus and Prosperity carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, mogas, pet coke and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Maersk Brooklyn, Tomini Prosperity, Prosperity and Autaurus carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There is one ship namely Baltic Bride carrying containers due to arrive on Friday while two more ships namely Diyala and Al-Marrouna carrying containers and LPG respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
