Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday sought the reply from the Ministry of Railways and others in a petition related to the suspension of railways operation due to Coronavirus.
A division bench of the SHC ordered the ministry to submit its reply by May 8, 2020 in the petition, which stated that Pakistan Railways issued the notification about the suspension of railways operation thrice since the outbreak of Coronavirus.
The petitioner submitted that people have stuck across the country due to suspension of operations of railways and public transports and stated that police arrest those who attempted to travel to their native areas by trucks.
The petitioner said that the federal government is carrying back the overseas Pakistanis through special flights and borders were opened to bring back pilgrims. The petitioner further submitted that Eid is approaching and requested the court to issue orders to railways to start special operation to take back the people from various cities to their native areas.
