An activist for thalassemia eradication from Pakistan, Ateeq-ur-Rehman, has suggested that a refinance facility for combating other diseases should be available and encouraged by the SBP to fight diseases like blood disorders, thalassemia, dengue, malaria, typhoid, etc.
It is not easy to battle with impacts and consequences of outbreak of such diseases and need immense financial assistance.
The State Bank of Pakistan enhanced financing limit from Rs200 million to Rs500 million for single hospital/medical center under its refinance facility for combating Covid-19, providing financing at a maximum rate of 3 percent for 5 years for purchasing equipment to detect, contain and treat the coronavirus.
"This is an excellent financial relief in these increasingly challenging times for those who are combating the coronavirus and boosting COVID-19 testing capacity," said Ateeq-ur-Rehman.
He said that this was the time of emergency financing to survive such a pandemic.
