With the number of Covid-19 positive cases rising in the federal capital and surrounding areas, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration on Tuesday started dealing strictly with the violators who set aside the directives of closure of all shops and food outlets at 5pm.

The measures have been taken to discourage public gatherings, so that the Covid-19 can be contained from spreading.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat had issued directives to the police to ensure closure of all shops in various markets at 5pm. But incidents of violation of the directives were rampant. Shop keepers keep their shops open even after the deadline and use back door entries for the customers.

Only pharmacies, milk shops and takeaway shops are allowed to remain open after 5pm. In the notification issued on March 22 by the district administration, it was ordered that shops especially grocery stores would shut at 8pm instead of 10pm in the capital city.

Meanwhile, the ICT Administration and "Hello Doctor" have jointly launched a medical advice app to provide medical advice to people at their doorsteps during the outbreak in the federal capital.

Following the outbreak of Covid-19 on March 24, the ICT Administration had suspended outpatient department (OPD) services in both public and private-sector hospitals.

In order to facilitate patients at their homes in the present situation, the ICT Administration and 'Hello Doctor' have launched a medical advice app.

With 'Hello Doctor,' people can talk to the PMDC-certified doctors after downloading App in their smartphones.

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 22,852 on Tuesday after new infections were confirmed.

According to the official data, the number of confirmed cases in Islamabad recorded 464, Punjab 8,133 cases, Sindh 8,189, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3,288, Balochistan 1,321, Gilgit-Baltistan 386, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 71. Till the filling of this report, 505 have died across the country.

The DC also chaired regular meetings of district price control committee and the meeting fixed prices of essential commodities.

It has been reported that Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has tested negative for Covid-19, a spokesperson stated on Tuesday.

According to the spokesperson, Sanjrani had met PML-N Senator Mirza Afridi, who tested positive for the disease a day earlier.
