Senior leaders of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have said that due to low testing capacity in the province, the number of the Covid-19 patients is increasing.

"The whole of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, except Peshawar, cannot be tested for coronavirus. The whole world is praising the Sindh government for taking precautionary measures against the coronavirus, but the federal government is criticizing it," these views were expressed by President PPP Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Humayun Khan, General Secretary Faisal Karim Kundi, and Information Secretary Senator Rubina Khalid, while addressing a joint news conference on Tuesday.

They said that the coronavirus patients and their death toll were increasing in the province due to low testing capacity.

They said that other than Peshawar, in no place in the KP, tests were being conducted and the number of patients was increasing with an alarming number of deaths. At a time when the entire world is appreciating the Sindh government's response in dealing with the pandemic, the federal government is targeting the Sindh government.

They claimed that the ministers found involved in corruption were being promoted and awarded a better ministry.

No hospital in the KP is providing free treatment, whereas in Sindh, free treatment is being provided to every patient, they claimed. They asked that when the National Assembly and the Senate were shut, how the budget would be passed. They said that the KP Assembly was closed too.

They said that numerous doctors had tested positive for Covid-19 in the KP because required PPEs had not been provided to the doctors. They said that Imran Khan had deputed his federal ministers to run a campaign against the Sindh government.

Several members of the provincial assembly who belonged to PTI are disappointed with the performance of the PTI government and are now thinking of quitting the party. They accused the federal government of failing to lead the fight against the Covid-19.

They said that the situation was getting out of control of the PTI government in KP. All gynaecology hospitals have been closed including the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. They also claimed that hospital equipments from government hospitals were being sold in the markets.

Humayun Khan said that when the epidemic started spreading in China, then precautionary measures were being taken by the Sindh government. Faisal Karim Kundi said that there was no unity in the country today and the "selected" prime minister has not visited Sindh yet.

"Is Sindh not a part of Pakistan? Two ministers have been left in Karachi to speak against the Sindh government," he said.
