Nationwide death toll from Covid-19 has reached 514, while confirmed cases surged to 22,063 of which over 5,782 have recovered, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said.

According to the NCOC, the province-wise break up of the total number of cases is as follows: Sindh has the highest number of cases that is 8,189, followed by Punjab with 8,133 cases, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 3,499 cases, Balochistan 1,321 cases, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 464 cases, Gilgit-Baltistan 372 cases, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 71 cases. So far, coronavirus has claimed 514 lives in Pakistan of which 194 in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 148 in Sindh, 144 in Punjab, 21 in Balochistan, three in Gilgit-Baltistan, and four in ICT.

Officials have recorded more than 3.676 million cases and more than 253,000 deaths, since the virus emerged in China in December 2019.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Tuesday announced establishing three quarantine centers at Taftan, Chaman and Torkham border crossings with a capacity of 1,200 rooms to facilitate the Pakistanis coming from Iran and Afghanistan.

According to the NDMA spokesperson, a quarantine center of 600 rooms is being established at Taftan, while the centers at Chaman and Torkham will have 300 rooms each.

He said the quarantine facility at Torkham has been completed and handed over to the local administration.

The spokesperson said centers at Taftan and Chaman will be completed soon.
