The Met Office on Wednesday forecast a mild heat wave spell for the metropolis in the next 24 hours with a hot and humid weather. The Heat Wave Early Warning Centre said that the city is expected to witness a mild heat wave spell on Thursday with a maximum daytime temperature ranging between 38 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius.
Humidity in the morning hours may remain up to 85 percent which is likely to reduce between 65 percent and 75 percent in the evening. Overall weather is expected to be hot and humid during the day. The wind direction will generally be from West to Southwest.
On Thursday, hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, isolated wind and rain-thunderstorm is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In the past 24 hours, weather remained dry in most parts of the country. However, rain fell in Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Punjab. Maximum rainfall was recorded in Upper Dir and Jhang 5mm, each, Noorpurthal 4mm, Malamjabba and Kasur 3mm, each, Saidu Sharif, Lower Dir, Balakot, Faisalabad, and Bahawalnagar 2mm, each.
Jacobabad and Dadu suffered from maximum temperature during the day, followed by Turbat, Shaheed Benazirabad, Chhor, and Lasbella 45, each.
"A shallow westerly wave is still affecting upper parts of the country," the Met added.
